Join the Late Night Shift at the legendary Glass House. Tijuana's electronica leaders Nortec Collective invite the Shift to hang out at their sound check. We also have music from Portishead, Montenegro and Kanye West with Chris Martin. Stay up late with us. Because we put out... the best music, that is!

I've been listening to musica en Espanol since before junior high & I graduated in 1974. First, El Chicano when their instrumental hit "Viva Tirado" got them an appearance on American Bandstand. Then to Santana when the 2nd album came out, Abraxas. The picture I've attached, is of me with my kids & my son-in-law right after seeing Santana at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest last month. Along the way, I got into groups like Malo & Azteca, who are both, like Santana, still rocking! So are the members of El Chicano! Check out the latest on their MySpace.
View ImageSince I saw Bostich + Fussible of Nortec Collective at the Pachanga Latino Music Festival a few weekends ago in Austin, I have been buying everything I can find by this very unique fun group. Every group I saw gave excellent performances, but these guys blew the audience away with there blend of techno beats & samples with traditional Mexican music played with live horns & accordian!
Most of the groups that performed at Pachanga, blended some form of traditional Mexican music to whatever rock they played. I think you should interview La Conquista, an all girl rock'n hip hop group that might look like a Spice Girl/Pussycat Doll band, but they can really rock'n rancher(oll)! Also Los Bad Apples who besides blending Kumbia, hip hop & rock, also add some Brazilian songs, thanks to lovely Anita Benners background in Bossa Nova! I might skip NO Jazz fest next year, but I won't miss Austin's Pachanga. The drive from Houston is well worth it.
