Grab your partner dosey doe lol. Those words are so much fun, not the actual words silly, the act, duh. Today Crash and I went Square dancing, and I had the most fun I've had in a minute. I cant remember the last time I laughed so hard.
When we first walked in the class room I was a little nervous because I had heard that square dancing could get a bit complicated. Did you know there are over 3000 calls?!! "Calls" is the word they use for "moves". I was sure that I wasn't going to remember half the stuff the instructor was going to be teaching us. I was also curious as to what kind of people we were going to be dancing with. You know, were they going to be young, old(er),that kind of thing. All I knew was that their name was The Tinsel Town Squares. Very Fabulous don't you think?
All I have to say is that they were definitely not young. Con decirte que Crash y yo eramos las unicas in our 20's, y que aunque lejos de los 30's, mas cerca que ellos, te lo digo todo. Pero enyway, age is nothing but a number. Let me tell you, those older people lol, were getting down lol. They made it easy for us because they were all so nice. Paul "the caller", or our teacher was fierce and such a doll. Howard, my partner was a sweetheart, I completely fell in love with him. He too was fabulous. The best part about the whole experience was that all though the class was predominantly men, not one of them were trying to mac. Crash and I weren't their type. Now that's what I'm talking about. By the the end of the night not only were Crash and I dancing like the pros (well, almost like the pros) we were calling like the pros. Paul had us call out the moves for the class. Of course I just had to do it in Spanish, but it wasn't a easy as I thought it would be. I find myself saying that a lot lately, and it seems to be the whole basis of The Chicas Project lol.
I have to admit, when I thought of square dancing before this, I thought BLAH. Now I feel the complete opposite. Now its more like YEEY- HAW !!!!!!!!!!. I truly had a blast. I also learned something new about myself. I mean I always knew that I was a Merenguera/ Bachatera/ Ballenatera/ Salsera (all the way), pero a Square Dancer? that's mos def a first for me. Pero hey, there is a first time for everything.
