Yo se que soy loca de ves en cuando, pero yo creo que hoy me pasé. I can’t believe I went skydiving! I mean, I woke up this morning like any other morning, thinking about what I was going to wear. I didn’t really give it – skydiving – too much thought. I guess that was my way of dealing with difficulties in my life. I put them off until I can’t anymore – ’til it’s time to face the music. Well, by the end of the day, the music was just plain blowing out my eardrums. I was basically looking at death right in the eye and attempting to laugh, but nothing came out. I started feeling sick to my stomach when we were going through the training. That’s when I was thinking and it really hit me – “I’m about to jump from 13,000 feet in the air from an airplane! Are you an idiot?” I couldn’t back out. It was something personal, something I had to do for myself. The plane ride up to where our plunge was going to be taken was the longest plane ride of my life – mind you, it was only 20 minutes! Finally, we get up there and it is Crash’s turn to jump. At this point, my heart is in my mouth and my nerves are shot. I was having second thoughts about jumping, pero lo hice. Me perciné, grite como una loca and I jumped. Those 55 seconds of freefall were full of “what ifs.” “What if my parachute fails? God forbid! What if a bird knocks the crap out of my instructor and takes him out cold? How am I going to fly this thing? What if I die? I’m too young to die.” When the worst part was over, the gliding with the parachute open wasn’t as horrific. There were moments when I thought, “Wow! Que bello, man.” Then the fear would sink back in and I panicked all over again. Cuando aterrisamos, que alivio sentí. No puedo decir que algo paso sobre de mi persona y senti un nuevo aprecio por la vida, pero si estaba muy agradecida de haber aterrisado salva y sana – Crash tambien. I can tell you one thing, I am not a thrill-seeking junkie, and I will never skydive again – but I do have to say that I officially proved to myself that when Yasmin Deliz puts her mind to something, she gets it done no matter what.
