“Rebel Rebel” was written for her. Nada y nadie can stop this girl. She was expelled from two schools and emancipated from her parents by the age of 15. She earned her GED at 17 and stitches together her own clothes. When rocking out to bands like Queens of the Stone Age she sometimes finds fashion can clash. “Corsets and heels in a mosh pit. It’s a bitch.”

So why is she called Crash? It wasn’t the name given her by an American Bandstand-jiving father or her career-driven mother. She got it through her reputation for crashing cars — the latest was a Datsun 280Z. The state of California revoked her license until she pays $5,000 in tickets.

Now she skateboards around and rides the LA Metro to work.
