Tommy Torres just wants a little love: "Many people in the business see me only as a producer. That's not the case."

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has already proven himself behind the boards: over the last decade, he's penned hits for Ricky Martin, Ednita Nazario and Paulina Rubio. But the 38-year-old, who bears a striking resemblance to actor Orlando Bloom, is breathing new life into his often overlooked solo career with Imparable, the lead single from his latest, Tarde o Temprano. Featuring Mexican pop-rockers Jesse y Joy, the track is both a lament and a proud declaration of love.

A graduate of Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, Torres ended a four-year hiatus as a solo artist with the release of Tarde o Temprano. Although his 2001 self-titled debut was greeted with a warm reception, the trained violinist and pianist may have become gun-shy after the lukewarm response to his follow-up, Estar de Moda No Está de Moda in 2004. Torres returned to producing, working on albums with Ricardo Arjona (Adentro, Quien Dijo Ayer) and Ricky Martin (MTV Unplugged). After fielding repeated questions about his solo career, Torres "returned to his roots" and began working on Tarde o Temprano, which also features an appearance by Tego Calderón.

But Torres isn't giving up on producing. He's set to work on Alejando Sanz's forthcoming English-language debut. Once he's finished, Torres says he won't wait another four years to enter the studio.
