Only three years after auditioning for the role of a musical group on the Mexican soap Rebelde (Rebel), the six members of RBD are now one of Mexico’s most successful international pop acts. After selling over 5 million records worldwide and selling out the LA Coliseum in only 30 minutes, the vanilla teeny boppers are poised to conquer the U.S. when their forthcoming English language album debut, Rebels, is released on December 19th.

The sextet of Christian Chávez, Alfonso Herrera, Maite Perroni, Anahí Portillo, Dulce María Espinoza and Christopher Uckermann has already moved 1.5 million units in the U.S. and attracted a substantial following in LA, the city with the second largest number of Mexicans in the world. On LA's KISS FM, the first single off Rebels, a sugary ballad titled Tu Amor (a Jon B cover), has already entered the Top 10 alongside Akon, Justin Timberlake, Paula Deanda, Ludacris and Gwen Stefani. KISS FM DJ Ryan Seacrest has interviewed the group twice on his popular morning radio program and the band will be headlining the station's Jingle Ball on December 7th with Nelly Furtado, JoJo and Danity Kane.

But that's just the flip side: at the end of this month RBD will be releasing 11 new Spanish language songs in addition to the muy picante reggaeton track they did with Luny Tunes. A movie and spin-off of the Rebelde telenovela are also in the works. All told, RBD has very quickly picked up the kind of momentum associated with groups like The Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Will it last? Absolutely. They're barely old enough to drink.
