Bunbury & Vegas

In Spain Enrique Bunbury is a bona fide rock demigod while Nacho Vegas is a well-regarded bohemian, songwriter and electric folkie. The unlikely pair have teamed up to record an album of songs under the name – shocker – Bunbury & Vegas.

Bunbury used to front Héroes del Silencio, one of Spain's most successful rock bands of the 90s. After Héroes broke up, the Zaragoza-born Bunbury went on to have a successful solo career, transforming himself into a lounge singer of sorts, mixing high drama and blue velvet ballads. Think Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) in Las Vegas.

At the same time as Bunbury's rise to fame with Héroes, Nacho Vegas was playing guitar for indie Spanish groups like Eliminator Jr. and Manta Ray. After Vegas released his first solo album in 2001, the Gijón native became a hit with the critics for his bittersweet and often hardcore confessions. Singing to a musical soundtrack in the vein of Bob Dylan channelled through Elliot Smith and Leonard Cohen, Nacho Vegas is the alcoholic thinking man's rocker.

The first Bunbury and Vegas release is a double album titled "El Tiempo de las Cerezas" (the season of the cherries) and it's full of rock ballads a la Johnny Cash and Townes Van Zandt. Their debut hits stores in the U.S. on October 31st.
