Being known as the two "crazy" guys is something Gnarls Barkley had to own.

The electronic soul duo of vocalist Cee-Lo and producer Danger Mouse was almost written off as a one-hit wonder after their Grammy-winning single Crazy went from being the "little song that could" to the "little song that is getting on my nerves." But Gnarls Barkley silenced doubters with a second – though smaller – hit with Gone Daddy Gone, a playful Violent Femmes cover. And then their debut album, St. Elsewhere, went platinum.

Neither the bald and plump Cee-Lo nor the lanky and bearded Danger Mouse are new to the game. Cee-Lo developed his distinctive gospel growl in Goodie Mob, a critically-acclaimed Dirty South quartet which played second fiddle to OutKast for most of the '90s. Cee-Lo went solo in 2000, releasing two albums of left-field soul, funk and R&B: Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections (2002) and Cee-Lo Green... Is the Soul Machine (2004). Danger Mouse famously "mashed-up" The Beatles and Jay-Z on The Grey Album before releasing The Mouse and The Mask with Dangerdoom and Demon Days with cartoon supergroup Gorillaz in 2005.

Known for performing live in costumes that reference pop culture, Gnarls Barkley say they'd rather be in the studio cranking out albums like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Gnarls' new album, The Odd Couple, is heavily influenced by '60s music, as on the singles Going On and Run. The pair may never have another hit like "Crazy," but Danger Mouse insists the song's success won't overshadow their new material: “I think that ‘Crazy’ is gonna help people hear this album. You can’t be mad at ‘Crazy.’”
