  • Britney Spears returns to form with Blackout, "a collection of well-produced, thoroughly enjoyable dance songs,” according to Entertainment Weekly. England's The Guardian thinks it's Spears best – “a bold, exciting album.”
  • Georgia rap duo Playaz Circle deliver their debut Supply & Demand to mixed reviews. The Associated Press is underwhelmed: “you can't help but wonder what other rapper/singer could inject the tracks with some more excitement.” Billboard.com says the album is "packed with insightful storytelling and sharp production… from start to finish.”
  • Philadelphia soul and R&B singer Kevin Michael presents his self-titled debut, featuring appearances by Lupe Fiasco, Q-Tip and Wyclef Jean. Blender Magazine, describes the album as “an irresistible blend of deliciously commercial R&B and classy, retro-flavored funk.” URB Magazine isn't buying it: "Kevin Michael sounds like a girl.”
  • Veteran KCRW DJ Raúl Campos steps up to the plate with Lotería Beats Mixtape, Volume 1. Global Rhythm describes Campos' compilation as “the first of its kind in this genre, with the flow of a mixtape.” La Vibra is pleased to discover “artists otherwise unknown in this neck of the woods," like "Venezuela's Papashanty and Colombia's Quib Town.”
