Emilio and Gloria Estefan named their daughter Emily. Wisin of Wisin y Yandel named his son Dylan.

Are Latinos selling out if they give their kids American names?

It just seems weird to me that we have begun to conform to white names to give our kids better futures. Pretty soon "Jose" will be replaced with William and John.

I think that as Latinos we should change the perspective that most of the US has on us, and show that it is much more important to look at the qualifications of the person rather than the hereditary factors, after all your culture should nvr be the deciding factor in landing a great career, that's just plain ignorance on the hiring side of this situation....just my opinion though...

Some people just like certain names, regardless of their ethnicity. It's better than naming your kid Superman or Apple or something dumb like that.
