Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic group in the U.S. The Hispanic population in the U.S. is expected to grow by 40 percent between 2000 and 2010 – the largest percentage of growth of all ethnic groups in the U.S.

How fast are we growing?

Based on 2010 Census Bureau estimates, the federal government will spend $400 billion in a year in funding for things like schools, hospitals and transportation.

According to the Census Bureau, there will be 50 million Hispanics in the U.S. by 2010. Out of $400 billion in funding, $65 billion of it would go to Hispanics.

What could $65 billion buy?

The yearly salary of 314,245 doctors.

But there's a catch. If you aren't counted, you don't get the money.

Some Latinos are afraid to be counted because they believe census workers will report them if they are undocumented, but this is not the case. The law requires census workers to keep information private and confidential.
