Moz Angeles

milestones in latino history

thu 12/21/2006

July 23, 1990. While looking through the $2 pirated cassette section at the South Gate swap meet, Fernando "Fernie" Medina finds a tape by Morrissey titled Viva Hate. Intrigued by the Spanish-sounding title, Medina purchases the cassette. Later, while listening to "Every Day is Like Sunday," he sees a vision of his tia Refugio, que en paz descanse, and begins to weep. Fifteen years later, Morrissey releases the song "Mexico."
