Alexander Acha

Mexican pop singer Alexander Acha doesn't worry that he'll be overshadowed by his famous father – to most, his dad was known simply by his first name: Emmanuel. The 24-year-old Alexander, who shares his father's mature vocal style, has already made waves in his native country with Te Amo, a piano-driven pop effort that could soon make him a star in the U.S.

We had a quick chat with Acha about his family, his fears and who he'd like to work with in the future.

You've had formal music education since childhood, you're good looking, and your album is big hit in México. Is there anything you're worried about?

Yes. My fear is losing something in my life or someone that I cherish by doing something wrong and realizing it when it is too late.

You write and make your own music. What do you sing about?

Feelings, thoughts and experiences, ranging from true love to the love of God. The love of human kind and also loving yourself.

How does your father's (Emmanuel) music career influence your own?

Thanks to him I am a champion! Hahaha! But really, thanks to him I know what I know regarding music and life. I feel very proud to be his son.

Do you make an effort to distance yourself from your father's style?

I don't really think about it, I just create my lyrics and songs and try to be myself. Some of things I do are similar [to my father], but sometimes they aren't. I like both styles as long as they are genuine and come from the heart.

Do you have another artistic impulse besides music?

For the time being, music is my priority.

In your song "Mujeres," you mention that they can ignite you with just a glance. Is there another thing in life that inspires that type of passion?

Yes, music.

Which Mexican or Latin artists would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Aleks Syntek, Alejandro Sanz, Emmanuel, Luis Miguel, among others.

What's the most important lesson that you've learned in your lifetime?

That the love for God and from God, is the biggest happiness for a person.
