FDA inspectors have announced raw jalapeños may be to blame for spreading the strain of salmonella bacteria found in tomatoes this past April and May. Over 1,200 people in 42 states became ill after eating the tainted produce. FDA food safety chief David Acheson says the jalapeño discovery "enables us to ultimately, hopefully, pinpoint the source of the contamination which has caused the outbreak."
