Peruvian indigenous leader Alberto Pizango has been granted political asylum in Nicaragua, according to Amazon Indian federation leader Edson Rosales. Pizango was one of the organizers of a protest over land rights that left over 50 dead. Peru has since overturned the land ownership laws that sparked the violence. (via Foreign Policy)
