The state of New York is easing its drug laws by moving away from mandatory minimum prison sentences and allowing judges to sentence first-time nonviolent offenders to treatment programs instead. Over the long term, sending drug offenders to treatment is believed to be less expensive than keeping them in jail.

this shoulda been done a long time ago, pero i guess that its better l8 than never coz we gettin some over crowded prisons in some places where some of da general pop. on drug charges like possecion n consumption dont need 2 b kept 4 as long as they should so

exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look how much it costs for each cell mate
hundreds and even for them to sit in the
police station cost money this should be
everywhere in u.s. becuase theres some crimes
that are so dumb and harmless
and its costing the country more and more to put them all in cells and taking more and more of our taxes for thats dumb ish!
