- World soccer icon David Beckham will be officially presented by the L.A. Galaxy today. The Galaxy, who recently revamped their team colors, has already sold 250,000 Beckham jerseys. (via Uncrate)

- MySpace was named one of the five worst websites by Time magazine due to "marketers and other opportunists who create false profiles and essentially spam other users all under the guise of 'making friends.'"

- Tighter security along the U.S.-Mexico border continues to inspire some illegal immigrants to enter the U.S. through dangerous – and sometimes deadly – terrain. So far this year, 275 migrants have died making the perilous journey to freedom and employment, with a one year projection set at a record-breaking 500-plus.

- A shadowy leftist rebel group called the Popular Revolutionary Army has claimed responsibility for the bombings of natural gas pipelines throughout Mexico. The acts of sabotage interrupted the flow of gas into some cities and forced the shutdown of several factories.
