- Mariah Carey is now in second place for the most number one singles by one artist. Mimi beat out Elvis Presley with her 18th number one single, "Touch My Body," bringing her closer to the current record holders, The Beatles.
- R&B group Day 26 has overtaken fellow "Making the Band" outfit Danity Kane with the number one album in the country.
- Juan Carlos Ramirez Abadia, a Colombian drug lord who allegedly shipped 550 tons of cocaine to the U.S., was sentenced to over 30 years in prison for crimes committed in Brazil. Ramirez says he would like to be extradited to the U.S., where he faces racketeering charges, because he "fears for his life."
- OG boy band New Kids on the Block have announced a reunion album and tour.
