- Animal rights group PETA encourages Mexican immigrants to go vegan by placing ads along the U.S.-Mexico border that read: "If the border patrol doesn't get you, the chicken and burgers will. Go vegan." PETA is no stranger to controversy. (via Guanabee)

- Drug violence has killed 5,000 people in México over the last two years, according to Mexican newspaper El Universal. The number of deaths in the last eight months has already surpassed last year's total number of killings.
- Three Pennsylvania teens will stand trial on charges of third-degree murder and ethnic intimidation after being arrested for last month's beating death of Mexican immigrant Luis Ramirez.
- Teachers working in Texas' Harrold school district will be allowed to carry concealed guns once they take part in crisis management training. Superintendent David Thweatt: "When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that's when all of these shootings started."
