- Four out of 10 inmates in federal prison are Latino, making Latinos – both U.S. citizens and immigrants – the most represented ethnic group in the federal prison system. Nearly half of all Latino prisoners were convicted of immigration crimes, followed by drug offenses.
- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says America is a "nation of cowards" when it comes to discussing racial issues. The first African-American Attorney General added: "If we're going to ever make progress, we're going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other."
- Kanye West says he was "forced to drop" a new video for "Welcome to Heartbreak" featuring Kid Cudi because "there is another video out there using the same technique."

- Hundreds of marchers in México blocked bridges along the U.S.-México border to protest abuse of civilians by the army. While human rights activists say there are valid complaints againt the army, the governor of Nuevo Leon accused drug cartels of organizing the protests.
