- Mexican rock outfit Café Tacuba leads this year's Latin Grammy nominees with six nominations, including "Album of the Year" for their most recent release, Sino.
- Latinos in the battleground states of Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada prefer Democrat Barack Obama to Republican John McCain, according to a poll conducted by Democratic think tank NDN.
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Ralph Basham has announced that the fence between the United States and Mexico may not be completed by the January 20, 2009 deadline. President George W. Bush wanted the border barrier to be finished by the end of his term.
- Kanye West's forthcoming album is reportedly titled 808's & Heartbreak and scheduled for release on December 16, 2008.
- The number of immigrants who filed for U.S. citizenship in the first half of this year is less than half the number who applied in the same period last year. Many blame a government filing fee hike of nearly 70 percent, from $400 to $675.
- Soulja Boy is still ballin' with Chingy, Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj on a new track, “Wana Balla.”
