- Latino activists urge PBS and filmmaker Ken Burns to expand his 14-hour-long documentary of World War II, titled The War, to include the experiences of Latino veterans.
- The US Navy confirms that hunger-striking detainees in Guantanamo Bay are being force-fed through tubes which are inserted through their nostrils.
- A car bomb explodes in front of a police building in Colombia, killing one and injuring over 30 people. The terrorist act could be the work of leftist guerrillas, right wing paramilitary groups or drug traffickers – though both guerrillas and paramilitaries are also involved in the drug trade.
