- New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson formally declares his entry in the 2008 presidential race. The 59-year-old Democrat was born in Pasdena, California and spent part of his childhood in Mexico City.
- Universal Pictures signs a $100 million partnership deal with Cha Cha Cha, the production company led by Mexican directors Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
- British footwear company Dr. Martens is using the images of dead rock legends Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious, Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer in a new series of advertisements which intend to showcase the brand's "durability."
