- Today is Earth Day.
- Hybrid car sales were up 38 percent in 2007 but only two out of every 100 cars sold were hybrids.
- Taco truck owners in East Los Angeles, California say they will defy a law that makes it illegal for them to stay parked in one location for more than an hour. Restaurant owners claim the trucks steal their business while taco truck owners say the law will put them out of business.

- Fernando Lugo, a former Catholic bishop, was elected president of Paraguay this past weekend, ending the country's 61-year rule by the right-wing Colorado Party.
- Jordin Sparks has temporarily dropped out of the Alicia Keys tour after suffering from what her record label described as "vocal problems." The "American Idol" champ is scheduled to rejoin the tour in May.

- Childrens' charity ALAS has organized an all-star lineup for a simulatneous concert to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mexico City. Artists scheduled to perform include Alejandro Sanz, Babasónicos, Calle 13, Chayanne, David Bisbal, Gustavo Cerati, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Los Tigres del Norte, Maná, Miguel Bosé, Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin, Shakira y Timbiriche.
