ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT SOME PEOPLE OUT HERE IN THE HEIGHTS DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YALE IS AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ATTEND AND BE ACCREDITED BY SUCH A GREAT UNIVERSITY.I GUESS ITS TRUE WHAT THEY SAY!! DOMINICANS ARE EVERYWHERE!! LOL
I'M EXTREMELY PROUD TO KNOW WE'VE EVEN INFILTRATED THE HALLS OF YALE WITH OUR DOMINICANISM AND OUR WASHINGTON HEITSNESS...
TO LARIELY AND THE REST OF THE QUISQUEYALIES, YOU MAKE ME EVEN PROUDER TO BE DOMINICAN!!
KEEP DOING YOUR THING... DR STAND UP!

BTW... CHECK OUT http://www.myspace.com/dtorecords MAYBE WE CAN SET UP SOME EVENTS UP!!! =)

You know this video really spoke to my life. I went to NYU ( Class of 2005 :) and the first thing that I had to do was join LUCHA. I was feeling suffocated by all the whiteness around me and just had to reach out and connect to my roots.
To all my Dominicans out there especially my people from the Heightzz please dream big, as the video stated we are moving towards progress but it is in our hands to determine how speedy that process will be.

Oh so proud to be Dominican!!!! ( Higueyanos where you at?) lol

God Bless,
Angie

Keep doing ur thing girl!
But here is my problem with a lot of Dominicans and Puerto Ricans (and the organizations they take part in, especially in college). While it is important for us to connect with our Latinoness, why do we rarely/never authenticate our black, African identities! How often do you find black Dominicans saying they are not black! I see this year that the conference will not be doing anything on black identity in DR; for me, it's unfortunate cuz I found that event last year to be the most meaningful.

As you say, of course no salon is as good as a Dominican salon...That's because no one wants to blow out their naps like we do :(
Hopefully you guys and future conferences will start to deal more with such issues of race, culture, and nation
